Inexpensive DIY Photo Holiday Project
Updated: Mar. 20, 2019Often, it's the little things that make the holidays memorable. Here is a simple, inexpensive and kid friendly holiday photo project.
If you have a home printer, this project is simple and fun for the holidays. Turn your favorite holiday photos into window decals. Here's how to do it:
Holiday Project Photo Opportunity
With your computer and an inkjet printer, you can turn your favorite holiday snapshots into fun window clings. And just print each photo on clear window decal paper (available at office supply stores) following the paper manufacturer’s instructions. Next, remove the backing from the printed photo and place it on your window for all to see and enjoy.
Extra idea: Use a photocopier to transfer your child’s artwork onto the window decal to create a personal art display.
Tips for making window clings with photos:
- For best results on this holiday project, use pictures that have very saturated colors and simple designs.
- To add visual interest, create clings of different sizes as shown in the photo. Or, experiment with border and corner designs to decorate just the window’s edges.
- Also, simple designs can be cut out and enhanced by outlining them with dimensional paint for a stained-glass look. And apply the paint to the side that does not face the glass.
- And the window clings can be reused. Just save the backing, and place the photos back on it after Christmas and store them for next year.
